I made carpet covers. Mine are about 1 foot square with a wedge cut out so they kind of fold around the corners. Make two for each area you want to protect then glue them back to back so you have carpet, not the backing to the out side. This protects the RV and the cover. Most carpet stores either sell or give away carpet scrap. I've used these for 4 years. No tears on the cover and not scrapes on the RV.

We always used swim noodles cut to length

Maybe I'm just lucky but never had such a problem. We use a Sunshield tarp held down. We used to use bottles of antifreeze but now use boat fenders half filled with sand to hold down the tarp. Cover doesn't move around.

Scrap pieces of carpet padding.

I used adhesive backed tyvek that came with my Adco cover on the 4 drain spouts. On the sharp corners of the steps, the rear jacks and fresh water drain I wire tied blocks of foam rubber.

Bubble wrap works great , or just plain foam ( like whats in pillows )

Someone suggested pieces of a pool noodle a few weeks ago. I think I'm going to give that a try this year. Last year I didn't use anything because I couldn't find my pre cut foam. Didn't have any holes, but don't want to press my luck.
