Dealing with salt water?

After staying at the beach, how do you wash it off your rig's undercarriage? Do you dare just squirt a hose under (enclosed underbelly) or is that asking for trouble? Also, what do you do if you can't find an RV wash avaialble? How long do you dare wait? We love the beach, but want to reduce the impact of salt spray. I am NOT talking about driving on the beach, but staying at an oceanfront camping spot. Thanks!
  • If its just for a short stay a regular washing would probably suffice but for an extended time check with some marine stores like West Marine for a quality salt wash. It is made primarily to remove the salt spray off of boats so you can see that it should do a great job on RV's also.
  • We were at Myrtle Beach for a week last summer. No problem. Not even on the windows and we were 100 yards from the surf.

  • we spend 2 weeks a year ocean front and this is what I do... Once I get home I take a pressure washer to the under side.. making sure I get everything!! I also go on the roof and do all he fins on the AC... You would not believe the GRIT that comes out! Been doing it this way for 20 years with no issued as of yet .. Joe
  • If you stay on the ocean during a big storm you will get salt spray. Wash it off and carry on. Only rigs that are there long term will develop serious rust issues.

No worries her just returned Sunday from the Oregon coast, I am sure that the road Spray did a fine job of washing the under carriage.

I would think unless you pull the trailer through the surf there is nothing really to worry about.
