Denver to Dallas

US 287 but after Wichita Falls, take US82 east to US75 and then south. You will not have the hwy 380 congestion.

Actually called Central Expressway or US 75.
Yes, to Sunnyvale that is probably the easiest way. US 380 between Denton and McKinney is a very good road, but a huge number of traffic lights, something around 40 in that 30+ miles stretch between I-35 and US 75, most grouped near Denton and near McKinney. But the traffic generally moves well. If you are lucky you may catch half of them green. :)
A couple miles of construction on US 75 southbound after you turn off of US 380 but they normally keep it moving pretty well also.
And hitting I-635 eastbound off of US 75 you will miss all the heavy construction going on I-635 west of US 75.
Just don't do US 75 and/or I-635 during morning or afternoon rush hours.

If your Route takes you near Raton Area of New Mexico. Between Clayton & Raton is the Capulin Volcano Nat'l Mon't.
A Neat Place. ------ But no Camping

Near Clayton, Clayton Lake State Park. Never been to it, however.

Sugarite Canyon State Park by Raton is a neat area.

Near Amarillo: Never been to the state park, but have read about it & would like to make it over there someday. Palo Duro Canyon State Park as well as Caprock Canyons State Park, from what I have read, seem like very neat areas to see.

Caprock Canyons State Park & Trailway would make a neat place to check out. One I would like to see. For perhaps a neat experience, Copper Breaks State Park near Quanah sounds pretty cool.

More overnighting along US 287 between Dallas/Fort Worth Area to Amarillo.

US287 all the way is the way to go. When you get to Amarillo, I would suggest the loop that takes you around Amarillo to the east. Then you can avoid downtown.

There is one low bridge clearance in Dalhart, I think it is 13'6" so you should be OK. if not it is easy to go around. Before you get to Amarillo there is a loop 4## that goes North and east of Amarillo, I can't remember the number but it will cut off several miles and miss some traffic.

Down to Raton, then over to Amarillo. Easy drive. Bought ours in south Dallas and hauled the old one down that way.

We made the mistake of returning up through OK and KS at Salina and crossing over on I70, terrible roads in OK and terrible winds across KS.

Been going that route most of my life. Its all good. Enjoy.

I think " The middle of nowhere " probably could be considered relative, as are most things in life. In my forty years of chasing rainbows I have been down on the side of the road once that I couldn't handle on my own. It was seventy five miles south of Dease Lake B.C. No cell coverage, in the middle of heavy bear country and the road closed due to fire. At the time I certainly considered it to be the middle of nowhere.

It took us two weeks and several thousand dollars to get out of there, but we met some wonderful folks that treated us like family and we still consider as friends. Most of us manage to get home eventually, no matter what the circumstances and to this day we consider that breakdown one of our greatest adventures. I came to realize that everywhere is somewhere.

Very good and pertinent advice - we live in the Fort Worth area and Loop 820 is a mess. Stay North of it.
