- loydtExplorerIf anybody wants to know how they can watch different programs on the bedroom and the main TV with satellite, let me know. I found an easy way to do it. You will need to have two receivers, though.
- M_GO_BLUE1ExplorerI have thought about an inverter but need to solve two questions first: (1) where to put the inverter? (especially with the front compartment being taken up by the genny); and, (2) where to install 2 additional batteries (giving me a battery bank of 4) as I believe using an inverter on only 2 batteries would not be practical...
The ultimate solution would be to figure out where I can store four 6V batteries in the Designer...the 2 existing battery trays are too small for a 6V battery - TravlingmanExplorer IIWe use the "Dish" network and take our dish with us alot. Take a receiver from the house. Real easy to set up. I just run the cable from outlet behind the DVD player to satellite receiver, then use a satellite signal finder to set up, and then use a "S" cable to run into side of TV. This way we can switch between satellite and regular TV to watch locals of area we are in. I have saw that Direct is running a deal where they will give you an extra dish, tripod and cable for your rig. Saw the promo in a Trailer Life I think.
- eaherrmannExplorerDirecTV uses the dish outside and a receiver box inside. Jayco has run 2 different satellite cables that are labeled inside the dvd cabinet area. 1 is labeled upper satellite if you have a roof mounted dish, the other is labeled lower if you use the side satellite input. I hope to get an inverter to run just the entertainment equipment during the evening.
- M_GO_BLUE1ExplorerThe genny just running normally is supposed to burn gas as follows:
normal 0.3 gallons/hour
1/2 load 0.6 gallons/hour
full load 0.9 gallons/hour
We have already put 14 hours on the genny and does great...there is a lag time of about 10-15 seconds after you turn on the genny for electricity to the trailer (watch the microwave to see when it pops on)...just changed the oil this pas weekend (supposed to change after the first 20 hours)
So you just plug the dish/tripod into the outside and you get all those channels? Anything to do on the inside after you plug in outside? What exactly is upper satellite and lower satellite?
We do alot of boondocking so on those nights when we want something to do or late at night I'm thinking why not just turn on the genny and the Direct TV and make a night of it - eaherrmannExplorerHey Cruz, you hit the nail on the head, it is a "welcome" mat.:C
Eric, you think the outside ("my area") is color coordinated you should see the inside.
Our satellite setup is DirecTV. The dish and tripod is sold as their "emergency" setup. You can also get them on Ebay pretty cheap. We have DirecTV at our residence and we simply grab a receiver on the way out the door. Point it south and with a little "aiming" practice you get 800+ digital channels. The REAL nice thing is that Jayco added an outside satellite plug in the back that attaches directly to an input port inside by the antenna port. They are all labeled, upper satellite, lower satellite, cable....
The DW and I are going dry camping over Memorial Day to test our current setup. I'm guessing we'll do alright with the genny and second battery. Any idea on how long a tank of gas will last (without A/C)? - M_GO_BLUE1ExplorerCHV,
Make sure you answer Loyd quickly...I'd hate to see a grown man whine again! :)
eaherrmann,
Nice set up!
I'm interested in the dish setup you have outside. What service is that and what would entail ourselves getting something like that since we tend to boondock alot? - cruzExplorerNice Set up ... Kinda looks alot like ours !? :h
Also looks like you have the same stair tread covers we do ... with the bottom one being the "WELCOME" mat ??
CRUZ - CHV_FRKExplorerLook in my message above... I need your e-mail address. PM me.
- loydtExplorerCHV, I never got your email?
