Dicor Sealant ?

Hi guys I'm still new to the 5er seen and to date have had no issues with my used one I bought. Today I was up hosing off the roof and applying an uv protectant etc and noticed the sealant around my fridge vent and a few other places is lifting at the edges. I just want to know if the tube of Dicor I bought was the correct product to apply over the lifting areas to re seal them again or should I be using something else ? I want to catch them early to avoid leaks.

Thanks

Previous owner? Since 2001? Come on man...you don't know what was used over all those years unless you claim you did the work on the seal you are pulling up in those pics.

That's true but I have a lot of experience removing old sealants to know that it was a Dicor/ProFlex type self leveling lap sealant. Its not rocket science!

Are you sure that is Dicor. Never seen it peel like that. Quite the opposite, a pain to remove.

It is Dicor. Not all of it peeled in that manner but a lot of it did. The previous owner of the rig had a RV Center service it every year since 2001. They kept piling on the lap sealant without care to areas that were losing adhesion. Water did the rest.

Works for some but sure didn't work with this rig. Now everything has Eternabond! If I need to replace a skylight or vent I will deal with the tape removal but until then...I don't think it will leak.

  • If it has screw heads under the sealant I sure wouldn't use Eternabond over them.

My '97 5th wheel trailer has never leaked. All I've done in all these years is add a bit of self leveling Dicor a few time in places such as the OP found.

I'd spend the extra money and get a roll of ETERNABOND, you'll never have to seal them again.
