Dining table and chairs

When 4 people are sitting at the table (which is in the slide out) the 2 people on the inner seats have only 2 chair legs on the slide out. The other 2 chair legs are on the trailer floor. This makes uncomfortable sitting as the chair rocks. Any suggestions as to how to have the 4 chair legs on one level?
  • We also do not "secure" the table for travel. We just push it up next to the wall. Never had any problems tipping over, chairs either!
  • Our table wasn't screwed down and we do as many in pulling the table out from the wall a bit. When we travel we have the tables long side against the wall and an small square ottoman against the table cross brace. It hasn't tipeed over....yet.

Our table came loose from the factory with foam pipe insulation on the two sides near a wall. You could put the insulation on all four sides if want.

The chairs fit up to the table and we do not tie them down. In over ten years like this we have had no problems.
  • You must have some REALLY WIDE chairs! All 4 of our chairs sit in place at our table with about 4" of slide out floor left over.

My Outback came equipped with "bull rings" on the floor so all the free-standing furniture can be strapped to them. Any kind of tie-down will work. Here's an image, similar to the one's in my camper. Simply screw a few of these to the floor and you can hook a bungie cord, or a wratchet strap, or even a simple tie-down rope through these and over the furniture to keep it from moving:

  • we removed the screws from our table also. We just move the table out a little and the other 2 chairs are on the main floor without the rocking effect. The only time we use 4 chairs is when we have company and play cards. We just make sure the table is secured when we move.
  • I also unscrewed the table from the floor and turned it 90 degrees. I then screwed it back down. We use only 2 chairs, but this also prevented any of them from being half on-half off the slide. Turning 90 degrees provided comfortable passage way when the slides are in also.

I suggest you unscrew it from the floor, then you can move it. You don't have to anchor it back down, just secure it when traveling.
  • You may not want to do this, but this is what we did. We unscrewed the table from the floor so that we could pull it out. Gave more room while eating and then just pushed it back when done.
