Dining Table Light

We have 5 lights in our LV slide.......3 are 110 and the other 2 are 12 volt. Replaced all of the fixtures are led's now. Over the desk with the printer and laptop....the new fixtures and led bulbs are perfect. The 12 volt fixtures ot from Amazon and the 110 fixtures got at Lowes(12 bucks each).

My wife uses a clamp goose neck light with an LED light element. She clamps it to the side of the table and can re-position it as needed over her work. I think her model is the one pictured below from Bed Bath & Beyond. There are others available if you Google "goose neck led clamp light."

Not sure what you have now but the new one should point down toward the table instead of all around. Camping World has Dinette lamps that meet this criteria.

Just change the bulb out for a 5000K LED bulb. It will be much brighter. I did that with ours, it is a 12v light.

If you are trying to stick with a 12VDC light fixture, there are literally thousands available**. As far as a source - pull that existing overhead fixture out, add a fancy flange and install a hanging light by tying into the 12VDC wiring that supplied the light you pulled out. If that wiring supplies other fixtures, install the new one in parallel and either find a new one with a switch built in or install one in the plus feed wire to the new fixture. Not a big deal.

Here is an option I used, lights from IKEA. I wired directly into 12V, but they come with a transformer for 120v. Much easier to wire into 12V. They come in 4 sections, so can be arranged in whatever pattern you need. They do not get hot, and use very little current. IKEA has a lot of options available in LED lighting, all of which are suitable for RVs

Our dinette light is the only 110v light in the rig and it came with a glass shade that broke into a million pieces when it finally worked it's way loose and dropped. I replaced it with a ceiling mount LED with plastic shade cover. Real bright now.

I winter in Florida every year and use my computer on the dining table just as you are doing. I use a USB LED light from Ikea that works really well. It is plenty bright to see the keyboard and takes up no room at all. Here is another one that I use for reading. It is quite a bit brighter than the computer one and takes up almost no table space. Either one might be a solution for you.:)

Would prefer replacing hanging light to save table space as I will have a printer/scanner/fax combo, laptop plus additional screen hooked up. Might be able to move the printer to the entertainment center and use wireless but just in case want to make sure I have enough room. This is my first foray into RVing and working full time. At least I will be warm.
