- DutchmenSportExplorerWhen we purchased our Outback, the first thing I did was move the table 90 degrees so it would be long (end to end) instead of long (side to side) with the camper. The provided more space to pass between when the slides were all "in."
My table was screwed down with 4 screws, one in each leg of the table with those funky square headed screws (which I hate). But they came right up (with the right screw driver head), I simply turned the table and screwed all 4 back down. (We also moved the free standing couch and 2 rocker chairs:
The original configuration when we purchased the camper:
First Configuration, turned table 90 degrees, screwed it back down, moved chairs and couch:
Then, just a few weeks ago, we decided to make another change. We wanted a new couch, and the table was never being used, nor were the chairs. Simple solution. Find a couch that would fit in the door, unscrew the table, remove the rocker chairs, remove the table, remove the kitchen chairs, and simply put in the new couch.
Since this photo was taken, I've added 6 wheels to the couch so it cam move easily and reposition facing the rear window. I then added a couple eye-bolts on the bottom to attach 2 straps to keep it from rolling around when traveling. We did this after a couple trips with the new wheels. But the nice thing is, the slide is now wide open, we can move the couch around, we got rid of the table which we were not using, and the chairs we weren't using either.
In the event we ever sell the camper, we will put back the original table and chairs, and remove the couch. Hey! It's a comfortable couch and we paid a hefty price for it, so it's not selling with the camper! Any, it works great now. We can turn it directly in front of the television, or with the television in the down position, have a fantastic view out the back window!
So yes, just simply unscrew, remove the table, keep it for a future day, and enjoy the camper! - mboppExplorerI removed the pedistal mounts and made the table free standing for more options in moving it. Since the mounts were screwed through carpeting on the slide you can't even tell where they were mounted.
- Matt_ColieExplorer IILook up travel trailer table flanges. I know these are still available.
Many RVs had a dinette/bed and the table was on a post that could be removed. There were flanges in the floor (you had better investigate what is underneath first) and on the bottom of the table and a post. When wanted, the table could be lifted and the post removed and set back down so the table rested on the seat edges and became part of the temporary bed. That might be a good answer.
Matt - robatthelakeExplorerOurs isn't screwed down . It's easy to move about to allow for Extra Bodies . We have actually never needed room for extra sleeping but have seated and served 8 Adults a Meal or Two on a Rainy Day!
- K_CharlesExplorerI moved ours about 6" away from the window and screwed it back to the floor of the slide.
- westendExplorerGo for it.
Anything you can unscrew can be screwed right back in. I think you'll find that not having the table is a good solution.
