Is walk on the roof and 15K BTU ac option a big deal? How many people got the walk on roof option? We're trying to buy one and we went to 2 dealership. The other dealer has walk on roof option and $1400 more than the other one. This will be our first brand new trailer and I need some opinion if walk on the roof is worth it.
I have the walk on roof and upgraded a/c. The a/c is a for sure thing because at 32 feet you are about at max for even 1 a/c so the bigger the better if you only can have 1. Cant say much yet about the walk on roof as of yet. - danojenoExplorer

I walk on my roof every time I wash it...if for nothing else than to check the condition of it and the caulking up there. I think the bigger AC is worth it, as it is a big trailer for only one. - danojenoExplorer

danojeno, what kind of speed do you get down to on steep grades. I had a 2002 GMC like yours but with a duramax and I was pushing only 40 or 45 mph. I traded it in for a 2007 with duramax (because the 2008 and newer beds are too tall) and im hoping the truck will be a little better on the grades. Im sure im close to max of trailer so just say im at 11,900 lbs.
There are steep grades I drop down to 40 or 45, but I'm usually not trying to beat on it. I think I did the Cajon pass at about 50, if you are familiar with that area. With the 07 Duramax you should be veryhappy. That would be my truck of choice. - drivebusterExplorerIs walk on the roof and 15K BTU ac option a big deal? How many people got the walk on roof option? I got to thinking about how the TV was wired and so after a little research found that by simply rewiring the audio wires I could have souround sound for the TV and the DVD player. There are 3 Av wires that run from the stereo/ DVD player to the TV. The factory had all 3 wired as outputs from the stereo to the tv. When watching a DVD the sound comes from the overhead speakers so the (audio) red and white wires are not needed to use the DVD player. To play the TV through the stereo I simply moved the audio wires on the tv to an audio out position. Then I popped the 2 end caps off the stereo, pulled it out and moved the audio wires from the "audio out" and moved them to the " audio in rear" plugs. Now I can play DVD and the TV through the stereo. I'm not sure why it wasn't wired that way at the facctory but it took me about 5 minutes to change it. Makes the tv sound so much better.

- bradley0128ExplorerThe springs are very stiff. I'd bet they can't bend that far. I would think if they could deflect even 4", the chassis manufacturer or eclipse would've already installed bump stops to prevent contact or the possibility of the springs getting stuck inverted. Plus, if they were that soft, we probably wouldn't need things like Equaflex. That and the trailer would roll over on turns. :)
I vote for "non-issue". - my996duc1Explorer

I've just gotten used to both the ramp and steps...no big deal. If it bothered me, I could put a stool under the steps, but even the kids don't mind. And my AC is at 13'6".
Are you running bump stops since the axle flip ?
No...IIRC there were none stock either, but not positive. Did you pull the trigger on the flip yet?
I don't have bumpstops now but the springs cannot invert right now either. The axle tube would hit the frame.
I have seen guys invert springs on off-road crawlers without running bumpstops after going spring over. I am a total newbie on the campers so didn't know if we needed bumpstops or not.
I have an appointment on Monday morning. Local place said it would cost $300+parts and would have it done the same day.
I don't understand how if you are lifting the camper by going spring OVER, the axle tube would hit the frame. It is the closest in a spring under configuration.
It wouldn't but the springs could over travel and break/bend something pretty easily.
that's what I am wondering about....
sitting stock (springs under axle) it doesn't look like they can get beyond flat (and invert) due to the axle tube hitting the frame.
Right now I have 3.5"-4" of travel before the axle tube will hit the frame. Just wondering if I should run some bumpstops to keep the springs from going beyond flat and bending, after I flip the axle.
I was just wondering if anyone else is running bumpstops, on a camper, or if this is a non-issue all together.
_ - StrutterExplorerI just looked at my entry door step and it's bolted on. If the first step height is an issue it could be moved down by drilling new holes. Just a suggestion for those that are flipping axles. I'm a bit nose up myself and haven't weighed all the ramifications of flipping. I want to take it out again before deciding.
I haven't taken the rig out due to weather so I've been doing some upgrades inside. Got my new satellite dish mounted and hooked up, new 22" led 12v TV mounted and while I had the fridge out to run wires I added blue (easy on the eyes) led lighting under the bathroom counter as a night light for the DW. No more leaving an overhead light on at night when dry camping. A friend saw it and commented "cool mood lighting in the crapper" :)
