Does anyone make a lower profile 5'er?

We are looking at selling our Class C and getting a 5th wheel. We had a cover built for our C, but it appears it will be a bit short for most fivers. The center is just over 12'6" tall and tapers down to around 11'9" at the corner braces.

Don't want to go over 30ft overall length in whatever we purchase. About the only newer ones I can find that look like they will fit is the Keystone Cougar 244RLS which is 11'8' including A/C or the Cougar 277RLS, 279RKS and 282RES which all max out at 11' 9" according to their website.

We are shorter people so don't need a 6' 6" ceiling, in fact prefer a shorter ceiling so it is easier to reach antenna's, lights, etc. Any help is appreciated if you know of units besides the Cougars that are not so tall.
  • Since you have a known height limit, I suggest you actually measure anything you look at. Because RV specs are notoriously in error. You don't want to get it home and then find out it won't fit under your cover. Make your salesman climb up there and help measure.

The Jayco Eagle HT line, for example. They show their 26.5RLS, at 140" with A/C. That is a 29'-11" OAL trailer.

That Jayco looks sweet and I know my wife is impressed with that brand. We will do some research on it. Thanks

Only low profiles I have seen are the old style where you had to crawl into the sleeping area on your knees. I think they only make mid and full profile in regular size fivers now ??

Except for the Scamp, I think you are correct.

We had one that was about 10ft-6. But there was only about 30 inches above the bed.

A number of companies used to make rigs like that. But today I think it's just Scamp.

  • Those Cougars are their Lite, or Half Ton, series. As is mine, and actual height at the A/C is 12'-2".

The key may be the units designed for light weight. Shorter height is one of the ways they reduce weight. If you don't prefer the Cougar, look for the lite series from any of the brands. That works well with your preference for shorter sizes.
