Does this sound right?

I have a friend who has her Rv in for repairs. They have been waiting for over a month for parts, so far. They wanted to take the Rv out for a outing and they told her that they would charge her $119.00 for taking the Rv out. THAT ISN'T RIGHT!
They won't work on the Rv until all the parts are in, which is understandable!

What parts are they waiting for? Serious problem or just some issue not stopping them from going out?

If not serious they should never have left it there in the first place.
  • Sorry, I omitted, it's an insurance claim. The person who clipped her already got her Rv back from the same place. Insurance has already paid them. They r just waiting for the parts. No work has been done. It's useable.

  • It sounds like they are charging her for putting the unit back together and having to tear it down again. It is not fair but they have her between a rock and a hard place. This would be the last time I would ever deal with that dealership.

I have two thoughts and reactions:
    1. Take the RV out of the shop today!!!! Tell them to bill you and then send the bill to the Better Business Bureau with a complaint. Contact your State Dept. of Complaints for Auto and RV businesses.
    2. I would wait 2 month to pay the bill:)
    3. Find another RV Repair shop and drive or have your RV towed there:)
    4. Contact the Trailer Life magazine and ask them to investigate the RV repair shop with regard to their bills, cost of parts and length of time to make repairs.

I would assume that is for the work they have done in determining what needs repaired and for ordering the parts. Not surprising they would want to be paid. Some people would take the RV and never return.
If the $119 goes toward the eventual repair billing, and not in addition to, that would be acceptable.

I agree with this and it wouldn't be out of line at all to want her to settle up before leaving with her RV.

  • time to change dealers. She SHOULD be able to order the parts and pay for them in advance (or possibly even leave a deposit) and bring the RV in when all parts are there. The best time to negotiate that is BEFORE taking it in though.
