Doh!

I managed to cut the lead cord to my 12v air compressor without marking the +/- sides. If I crosswire it, will I damage the compressor? Make it run backward?
Suggestions?
Thanks.
  • Most of your compressors are either diaphragm or piston pumps with reed valves. I doubt that you can tell if the motor is running backwards. The brushes for the motor may be set from running a particular direction, but other than that it may not matter.
  • As Tyler said, the wires are different.

"You can observe a lot of things, if you look." Yogi Berra.
  • Did same thing before. I compared the cuts on each wire, and matched them up.

  • Examine the wires carefully. There may be a mark of some sort one of them. Look for ridges or such on one wire that isn't on the other one. If you wire it backwards you will probably blow a fuse, I think that's the worst that would happen. Good luck
