Dometic Awning with LED light strip

Not sure why my link was removed. A newbie thing I suppose.

This rope light works pretty slick. Slides into the groove an an awning tube. Or do what I did. I added another piece of awning track underneath my existing awning track and slid the rope in it. That way it could also be wired-up permanently.

Make SURE you order the one that says for exterior use. It has a waterproof clear covering over diodes. The faulty one I took off that our dealer put on did not have this and was really designed for interior use. It said it had 3M double sided tape and looked like it did, but it didn't stick as well as most 3M double sided tape I have used. I ended up using one drop of Superglue every foot. It's really light and this has worked well so far.

It was only a few dollars more for colored lights but the DW said no colors. Good luck. Keith

Agree on the tape. Its not 3M quality. I made sure to wipe down the surface with acetone and applied on a warm afternoon and its holding fine. Superglue might cause some issues if you ever have to replace the LED strip some day.

We paid $85.00 CDN for ours and put it on ourselves 3 years ago. Drilled a hole through the sidewall and hard wired it to the porch light switch, then removed the porch light bulb. Works perfectly and all we do is flip the switch.

My dealer removed it and re-installed it using 3M double sided tape to the trailer wall. I saw a Jayco travel trailer who's dealer did the same thing and it did hold up.

Call Dometic yourself and talk to them. They resolved my A/C issue without question when I spoke to them directly.

Super Glue it?

My $35 Ebay multi-color remote controlled LED strip I installed on my awning is still rockin it.

Dometic replaced mine twice. First time it quickly became wavy again. Second time was told new design. It has stayed much better but after a year since replacement it has become slightly wavy but not as bad as before.

Very poor design. If it becomes as bad as it was first time then I'll replace it with a track that attaches to the trailer wall rather than to the awning tube.
