double pane windows worth it?

Yes, we got them in our Cedar Creek and do think they are better, ours fogged in 3 of them but brought it to their attention at the FROG Rally and they replaced them for us at no cost to us. Yes we would get them again and as a matter of fact they are standard in the unit we want.

I was told the same by a salesman here in Central Texas just last weekend. While looking at a Prime Time Sanibel 3250, he touted the PEX tubing "more often found in higher end trailers." I smiled at him and said how good that made me feel about my 3-year old "entry level" Springdale that was built with PEX. Oh, he also said the Sanibel 3250 was 32 feet long (I told him I didn't want to go much bigger). Seemed like a big trailer. Specs online place it at 38' 4"

Sorry to highjack the thread, RV salespeople will say the damndest things.

I can't say whether they are worth it or not. They may abate some noise, however, several of ours have condensation between the panes. We ordered our unit with them, the windows are Hehr. Our DRV is 6 years old and we travel in it 4-5 months per year. We have some good friends who have the exact same unit as ours and they have had the same problem. They began to have problems sooner than we did, I would say in about 2 years. I have read on this forum that there are ways to fix them yourself, we need to look into that.

I have had both and prefer the dual pane Hehr ,8 yrs old and no problems.If nothing else just stopping all the condensation was worth it.

Ours is the first one with out double but we bought used, no choice. This trailer is noticeably warmer in cooler weather then the others but I think that is because of build quality. I do notice it is easier to see in this trailer with blinds up then the ones with duals. Noise? Really can't tell it may be noisier but not enough to worry about. Still I would order duals if I had that option. Don't really know why they even arent standard on higher end units.

Our manufacturer (Lazy Daze) used dual pane (no space inbetween glass) up until about 2003. They now use true thermopane glass. Our older Class has the older dual pane glass. There is a tinting material between the 2 panes. We love these windows. It does make for a quieter RV inside even with the ceiling vents open. We wouldn't buy a new RV with single pane glass.

They have been everything we expected with no problems.

For dual panes to be beneficial you must RV a lot/full time and pay your own utilities. Otherwise there is very little or no energy savings to be had like in your stix and brix house. Without an energy rebate I see no point to having dual panes. The exception being if you camp in extreme cold weather which 95% of RV'ers do not
I do believe they reduce noise but noise in general is a non issue for me.
I have never been to a CG that I felt was too loud!
In the end I did not believe it was worthwhile to get dual panes.

Stay away from that fibbing dealer

Hmmm. I don't think he was fibbing. The R values are not that much higher. Yes they do lots of things, condensation, quiet etc. But Big R factor increases are not one of them.
