I only use my toy hauler 4 or 5 times a year. Do you drain the water tank if its going to sit for a while then put in a fresh tank before each use? I usually put 1/4 cup of bleach in when I fill the tank.

I'll leave freshwater in the tank if I know we are going back out within a few weeks, but if it is more than a month we will drain either at the end of the last trip or just prior to the next trip and refill with fresh water. I fill with chlorinated city water from home and have used water from the FW tank that has sat for several months with no ill tastes or odors.

Here in this Az heat I drain it then put back a couple of gal to keep the valve from drying out. I do this once a month in summer. Bad things can grow in it. But I want the valve wet. I also keep water & toilet valve treatment in the bowl along with 4/5 5gal bucket of water in the trailer.

I usually leave the tank full, to keep stuff from growing and in case of a disaster.Just before the next trip, I drain and refill.

If water is from a municipal system with chlorination treatment system -it will sit fine for a couple of months if the caps are in place preventing bug entry.

I drain my after every trip. I don't care how long in between trips it will sit.

I don't even use that water to make coffee. ANy water that goes into my mouth comes from a bottle.

Once I dump my waste tanks and put a few gallons back into the black tank mixed with the blue stuff, I dump my water tank and re-fill prior to next trip out.

I do the same.

2X Clorine is a gas and doesn't stay in the water but a short time once it leaves the city water system. Out here water turns green in several weeks of sitting in tanks from the sun light.

I dump it when leaving the campground, less weight to haul home.
Refill before the next trip.

I leave the tank at what ever level it was at the end of the last trip; then drain and refill with fresh before the next trip. (we don't drink the water in the tank so no idea as to the taste)

I also sanitize the fresh tank at the start of the year.

You will have access to plenty of water (Salted) when Kali breaks off and sinks in the ocean when the next big quake hits.

Zactly why my fresh water tank stays full,
grey/black drained/flushed out and a couple of gallons put back in with chemicals.
2 cases of drinking water available, so I don't care what the water in the tank tastes like.
I used to keep 10-15 gallons of gas in the tank with stabil, but the gas now days SUCKS.
I do keep about 5 gal of gas in a jug and dump it in our SUV and refill with fresh fuel fairly often. Ready for the "Big One" to hit !!!
