I am glad you said it first! With a B&W all you have to do is lOOk to see the 1 1/8" thick silver jaws are closed around the kingpin and you are good to go!
Same with my Reese R16k. Two big jaws wrapped around the kingpin and the handle fully pushed in and down with the safety pin locking it in...I know it is secure and road ready.
My older twin jaw doesn't even need to be locked! If the jaws snap shut the pin can't force them open based on the location of the pivot point. Once before I had my routine down, I forgot flip the locking latch, and headed down the road, realized my error about a block down the street. Stopped flipped the latch into the lock position and continued on our way.
