dual pane windows & weight

We are looking to purchase a fifth wheel and have been told two separate things by two different salesmen. Yes, get the dual pane to help with cold, no, don't get the dual pane (thermal he said) as they add too much weight to the TT. Who is right?

how hard are they to disassemble?
I don't know as I've never done it. But it's not something to worry about. Dual pane windows are worth getting, IMHO.
  • We got the Dual Pane Windows on our current 5th Wheel, love them, will never have another 5er with out them.
Yes they are add weight since every window has 2 pieces of glass and they add cost to the 5er but well worth it !!!
  • The salesman telling you not to buy the 5'r because of the thermopane weight, will probably next tell you to buy his unit because they put in a cheap grade of carpet and left out the carpet padding to save you weight also.

Buy the unit with the thermopane windows if everyting else is equal to you.

  • I would not have anther RV without them... I did not think I would want or like tem.. DW wanted to order them with our current fiver so we did... I am glad we did. Joe
  • Weight would not be a major issue to me. I doubt they add a total of 100 lbs. to the weight.
They do add to the insulation factor in both winter and summer, along with sound transfer.
I would not be without them, thats my opinion.
  • Salesman number one is trying to sell a product with dual-pane windows; salesman number two is trying to sell a product without. My Class C has dual-pane windows. I know they at least keep noise out and probably help with insulation, too. The only problem I know of with dual-panes is that they can fog up between the panes and require disassembly to repair.
