Dually tow vehicle tire pressure

When towing my tires are 80 all around. In off season I drop them all to 50lbs, for a smoother ride.

My dually has 2 recommendations for PSI - low weight and maximum weight. My maximum weight matches what you said- rears 65psi; front 70psi.

Why do you feel the need to increase it from there?

Whether towing or empty I always keep the pressure at the maximum on the sidewall. I don't want to take the time to adjust the pressure depending on what I'm doing with the truck. Trucks are meant to ride rough....LOL

You'll never have a definitive answer unless you scale your truck. My Chevy dually carries little to NO additional weight on the front tires when my fiver is hitched-up Pin weight of 3500 pounds. I run the placarded psi at all times. No problems in 4 years.

I run max air most of the time. With the truck camper it lessens the side wall flex and it doesn't hurt anything to keep it there for other loads . I have been keeping max air in all my truck and trailer tires for about 50 years without any problems. But this is just my practice. You can follow the door sticker and probably do just fine unless you are over the trucks rated weights. That's why running across a scale is always a good idea.

Thank you everyone. I have been towing 5th wheels since 2001. Always kept front tires a little more than door sticker when towing. Started thinking and was curious. I will probably stay at 70 on front or maybe increase a little.

Weight the axles then look up the tire manufacturer's load inflation table. That's the only way to know. You likely don't need to be at 80 psi for the load you're carrying. With my TC on my dually is 1,600 pounds over it's GVWR. But, according to my Michelin tire's inflation table, I only need about 70 pounds in the rear tires to handle the weight. So, I usually run 70 or maybe 75.

I don't have a dually. Loaded, my 5th wheel weighs 15,000 pounds. Recommended tire press on the front in 60 psi (yours is 70). I think that 70 psi is okay for you truck. Loaded or unloaded the front tire pressure does is about the same.

I run 72 lbs. in my fronts and 75 in the rears when towing my 20K fiver.

I have a 2009 F450 DRW with 19.5 tires. The PSI on the sidewall cold is 110. I have to have my tire service done a tire shop that handles semis. I asked them whether I should go by the tire pressure chart on the door jam or the cold pressure rating on the sidewall. They said to always go by the PSI on the sidewall of the tire. So, I have followed that rule and never regretted it.
