Durango Gold

We are thinking of upgrading to a G353 RKT Durango Gold, any thoughts or problems from anyone who may own one or any Durango Gold in general?
  • I considered one the last time we were buying a new trailer. Looks like a decent rig for the money. Thought the overall look was rather ho-hum. It was priced right and it would have worked okay. For not much more money we got a new Cedar Creek. Very happy with it. Bought it last Fall and have about 3,000 miles on it and over 100 nights. With all it's standard features I think it might be a better value.

  • My neighbor has one. It is approx. 6 mo old. They delivered the wrong size bed to begin with and it had to go back to get a different bed. He then had a problem with the front overhang seams coming separated. He had a leveling problem but I do not know any details of that issue. He recently (last week) had a leak from his grey water tank under the shower.

He has to pull it 250 miles for warranty service since the only dealer that will work on it, is the one that delivered it. He tried to get service in San Antonio and the dealer said he would have to wait 3 months before they could work on it, even though the factory authorized the fix.

He seems overall happy with the unit but after each trip it has a problem of some kind. He does live in it for extended periods at remote work sites and pulls it with a 1 ton Ram diesel SRW.
  • If you look on the Kz family form you can find more information and ask questions regard the Durango Gold 5th wheels, nice people on the form with lots of infromation

We traded our 12 year old Coachmen 5th wheel this past January for a KZ G394RLT and could not be happier.

I have to tell you this 5th wheel pulls better than the old Coachmen we had an is 7ft longer...

There was a few small things wrong but I fixed them myself, I do have a problem with the furnace not working, called my dealer they said it would be at least 2 months to get me in. I called Kz Customer service, they told me to contact the MFG of the furnace which I did, a service center for the MFG is only 10 miles away and can get me in next week.

    For the OP having problems

If your looking for service work during the summer get set to wait 2 or 3 months for an appointment because they are booked up. Even the RV repair places are book up weeks in advance, I live near a very good RV repair shop, they have a very large parking lot with at last 30 spaces and a RV park next to them with another 30 some spaces that they own. In the winter maybe 10 spaces are filled, in the spring (April) you can't find a place to park till October when again work slacks off...

Again if the OP calls customer service at Kz they will work with him to get his trailer fixed someplace, shoot if he comes to the Kz Rally the 1st week in August he more than likely could get it fixed right at the factory :)
