I don't remember the OP asking what my wife and I do, so that isn't part of the answer.

Look up a local firm that teaches over-the-road truck driving. They are everywhere. Call them and ask if one of the instructors would like to freelance on the weekend giving your wife some basic lessons.
I know that my wife listens to others telling her about technical things more easily than she does to me. Possibly because there is no matrimonial history involved.
A couple of hours with a professional driver teaching a little theory and practice of cornering and backing should be all it takes.
(P.S. Martha drives on the open road; not in town or RV parks if she can help it. Blackjack isn't allowed to drive. He can't see over the dashboard.)
