We started our 18 years ago switching drivers every 2 hours. Driving is something we both enjoy and allows the "passenger" to gawk at all the beautiful things we see plus neither of us is tired at the end of our day.
That said, you can go to a driving school IF your spouse feels that will make her more comfortable but I don't believe it is necessary. If she is relaxed with you giving gentle instructions she should be fine. If she drives any vehicle, she can drive an RV. It always amazes me when some men say--my wife will never drive as she makes me nervous. I have been in plenty of cars, trucks, etc with a man driving and the 3 passengers were extremely nervous.
Our 1st trip out, I took over on an interstate. That way if someone behind me didn't want to stay behind me, they could go around. It also made me more comfortable way back then to have 2 lanes until I got more used to pulling our 38'Carriage. It didn't really take that long before I was going through town both big and small and on the wonderful back roads of our beautiful country.
The 3 times Dutch has been hospitalized, we never had to stay put until he could drive. Once released by the doctor, I just hooked us up and off we went. What a bonus.
I hope she does start driving so you can continue on down the road. Hugs, Di
