Thirty years as a paid F/F - been to all kinds of fires.
Investigated same also.
NEVER had one caused by an electric blanket.....but I'm sure it could happen (Murphy's Law) if used improperly, really old or damaged.
You should always have smoke, CO, and propane detectors.
Lots more fire hazards to worry about in your RV or sticks and bricks than an electric blanket.

Well we no longer use an electric blanket. When you wake up with your bed on fire it tends to sour you on them. Ours was a dual control, fairly new, never been abused. It shorted out where the controls plugged into the blanket. We were very lucky because I woke up when it popped.
Yes they are nice, but Google electric blanket fire and educate yourself. No more for us. Flannel sheets, nice quilt and a HW to spoon with!!!! It don't get any better than that!!!! LOL
