Can't help you on the 2006 Ford truck, but I have a 2011 F-350 pulling a 2012 Hitchhiker with elctric over hydraulic disc brakes and I have had no problems. The 2011 F-350 can be programed for Electric or Electric over Hydraulic, and I must confess I don't have a clue what difference it would make to the truck, but it works fine and that's all that counts.
