Back from the dunes with a 500 mile trip logged on the new TH. Great trip with no major mechanical issues and I'm impressed with how this TH towed. Rolled over the scales on the way home with a trailer axle of 12600#, rear axle of truck 5900# (truck empty is about 3000# and I had a 400# quad in bed plus dog ,DW and 2 kids in the cab). We are coming from a 2002 TT so this thing is like a Cadillac to us LOL. I am surprised at how good it towed too with no sway issues (using an Equalizer 14000# hitch) and a smaller nose cone area compared to our other TT which was like towing a 10000# trailer but it was only 7700# loaded. Breaking was nice too with a much heavier trailer (2 6k axles). Minor repairs: We picked up this TH last minute before our dune trip so they were scrambling to get it ready for us and they were very accommodating. It failed a pressure test and they addressed the leak the next morning just to get us ready. The microwave is inop and there are the small little things like the toilet paper brackets are loose in the wall and one of the heat vents does not work but that's pretty much it. Impressed so far with this large RV dealer in Phoenix and hop they continue this while it goes in for some follow up. Edit: Completed my own 2 hour PDI and found some more stuff. Ripped awning at end of roll at seam, exposed plywood under the leading, front edge of trailer at subfloor, unsealed A/C ductwork inside air filter area, scuffed/ripped leather seats, one heat vent has no flow to it. Calling dealer tomorrow to see what's next?
My wife and I have looked at the Amped 28' numerous times. Cost is a factor but the real problem for us is how low the drains for the gray and black water set. Your picture really makes that stand out. We would be using the TT off the grid when hunting and fishing. How did the repairs go with the dealer? Tony
