Excitied & NERVOUS...1 week our life will change.

Making the move in 1 week from a TT to a 5th wheel. Without saying excitement is brewing but also getting nervous. Nervous since i am so unsure of how the 5th wheel will handle, making sharp turns & backing. :(:?
  • Congrats. You will love how nice a fiver tows and backing in is a breeze.
  • Go have lots of fun. Best thing we bought was set of walkie talkies for the tight backing. You'll love ease of hooking up and un-hooking
  • We made the transition three years ago. The fiver tows great and has lots of extra room inside. Backing up is a whole different animal. Practice lots and you will get the hang of it. Watch your turns especially to the right. Give yourself lots of room. Most of all enjoy!
  • I made the move 2 years ago. Only thing I can say is take your turns wider that you think you need to. I almost wiped out a stop sign the first day. LOL Good luck and congrats, John

Considering that 99% of the time your moving forwards and 1% of the time your backing up I wouldn't worry one bit. The moving forward part definitely out weighs any negatives about backing up.

And that 1% is done at very slow speeds.

I admire those who can back into a site first time, no hesitation. I move a few feet, check my progress, maybe get out and make sure I'm clear of that tree, etc. If I have to pull forward and try again, no biggie.

  • Be excited, but no need to be nervous. You'll quickly get the hang of it and find the fiver is great to tow and back.

No comparison. Once you get a handle on it, you'll kick yourself for waiting so long. :B Have fun!
