He did the right thing - don't let all this chatter bother you. Unless you applied the dry chemical directly to electrical source of the problem, you were in Class A combustible space anyway you look at it. It would have benefited you to kill the main power first just to de-energize everything.
These dry chem extinguishers in the RV are there for grease laden fires on the stove to meet the code for cooking appliances. They are pretty worthless on anything else, and actually the powder can do severe damage to electrical contacts in switches and electronics, stuff that shows up as a problem after the insurance thinks they got you repaired.
Great story for awareness - those fireplaces are plagued with loose contacts from the RV factory and have caused a lot of scares!
