Some states, Missouri for one, require you to be licensed for your GCVW, not GVW. I'm licensed for 23,000 lbs.
Yep, Different for every state. In Florida if the NET weight of the truck is less than 8000lbs then you register for the max Gross weight of the truck. If over 8000lbs NET then you register for the Gross truck weight + the Gross trailer weight (GCVW).
