Fifth Wheel hitch security

Not to change the subject, but I guard my 50A power cord. There is a hole in every power post box that I have recently hooked up to. It is not a sure thing, but I put a lock on the power box. If they want the cord, they will either have to break into the power box or cut a live wire. I don't think they would do the later, as they would not be able to use it or perhaps even live through it. Locking it just keeps honest people honest. A thief will get something if they really want it.

...And forever. The fifth wheel is gone, and the hitch has been sold.
I never did have any locks on the hitch, and don't use any on the towbar or tow dolly.
If the motorhome catches fire, I don't want any locks slowing me down from getting the towed vehicle separated from the conflagration!

I am more concerned about someone stealing the entire truck than just the hitch.
But I really don't worry about either. I take reasonable precaution and pay my insurance.
If someone is going to climb into my truck and wrestle out the hitch they can have it, I can't imagine a pad lock stopping them if they are that determined.

Hitches don't have a great resale value. They are just too heavy and not that marketable. The resale market is very slim. In short there are many easier things to steal............like the whole truck.

There are a lot of things in life to worry about,however my hitch is not one of them!

I use these also, as much to keep the pins from being removed as the hitch stolen. I used to set the hitch on the dog house when out of the truck, any one who could get it could have it. It was always there when I went back for it:B

I have my super rails pad locked but if they want this hitch they better have a hoist because this superglide is about 200 plus pounds, not that easy to remove

Me too. Have camped all over the USA. Not had a problem with theft.

I have always locked the handle on my B&W hitch and the two pins that hold the upper 1/2 adjustable head on.

There are people that would pull your handle so I don't take a chance.

I could put a lock in the handle or a pin, I choose the lock.

Before the DW and I leave our unit we make sure that the power cord, water hose, sewer hose, hitch, tripod , all doors and windows are locked. In addition, we ensure that the security fence and motion lights are turned on. Our last step is to make sure that our shepard has plenty of food and water.
