fifth wheel hitch

We have a 2016 Ram 2500 CC, 4WD, with an Andersen steel hitch and a B & W Turnover ball---works great. The steel version weighs 79 lbs.
Our real problem was the height of the truck vs. the fifth wheel. Our unit needed a 3 inch lift to make the trailer level while hooked up.
There are some companies out here that won't guarantee the frame if using an Andersen set up. Not trying to bad mouth Andersen at all, we like it. Easy in, easy out, easy to carry.

Its unbelievable how many have the Andersen hitch. I was at an RV dealer buying a part, and they repair fifth wheels. There were 8 fifth wheels lined up in a row for repairs, with 4 of them with the Andersen adapter on the pin boxes.

Thats why getting the Andersen hitch makes even more sense.You verify what many are finding out buying those expensive slider hitches, and never needing them. I towed with a heavy cumbersome to remove slider hitch for years that I never used. Now with the Andersen with the short bed Ram 3500 Megacab , no problem with clearance with the Andersen.

I will never go back to a conventional hitch again, slider or non slider.

I agree with cummins, I have the slider companion. It works like a charm. I later found out I didn't really need the slide, I can turn to about 85 degrees without any worries.

Plus, at 35lbs, you can easily take it in and out by yourself.

If I were in your situation, I would check out the Blue Ox Super Ride hitch. It checks boxes the Companion doesn't such as light weight and cushioned ride. Their website is bad as is their video. Neither informs potential customers that the hitch pivots forward and aft for cab clearance rather than sliding. Not saying it is correct for you but it is worth a look. It's new, I haven't seen any reviews on this forum.

I use a B&W Companion hitch. Works well for us. Trying to get a pic to work...

I honestly expected it to be better, but not to the point that even my wife noticed!

you still wont talk me into a ram....well maybe not for a few years until this ford wears out.

While I don't always agree with cummins...I can tell you I UPGRADED from the standard reese 16k 5th to a B&W over the winter. this past weekend was my first tow and all I can say is this was one of the best things I have done! hitching/unhitching was easier and zero noise came from the hitch unlike the pervious unit.

If you can afford it Just get the B&W and don't waste your time with others!

If your going to go with a slider hitch. IMHO go with a Pullrite Superglide Automatic Slider. Manual sliders SUCK!!!!!
