An improper adjustment (too tight) could overheat the shoes and the drum but wouldn't wear the surface out where the magnet rides. Extreme heat isn't good for the magnet or wiring but dragging shoes aren't going to wear out the side surface of the drum where the magnet runs.
If it had been towed 2000 miles from the factory to the dealer with a vehicle with an improperly working controller and it was over applying or dragging the brakes it would wear out the shoes or overheat the drum but it still wouldn't wear out the side surface where the magnet runs.
I don't notice people coming on here saying that all four of their drums are worn out. I've seen a drum destroyed and it was because the clip came off and there were loose parts in the drum but not very likely to happen on all four at the same time.
