floor squeak

In my 2015 Sundance 245XLT I have a spot in the floor near the bed that squeaks when I step. The spot is right where the carpet meets the vinyl flooring on the carpet side. There is a little flex where it squeaks. It is super annoying. Any idea how to fix it? Sign of a larger problem? Thanks.

Probably a seam in the plywood/chipboard flooring or it could be a loose staple/screw.

It's definitely a seam. Any idea how to quiet it down?

We have a spot like that wood over Aluminum framing likely need a bit of talcum powder between the two.
  • Drill a pilot hole through the carpet and floor material -stop before hitting the joist. Screw in a 1 and 1/2" screw. That will stop the movement. The screw will go into the carpet enough to be pretty much invisable.
    Worked for me.
  • I thought we had a floor squeak. I showed the tech at DRV. He said it was the metal floor register. I gave him the death stare in disbelief! He said he was serious. I checked it out and it's true. He said these all do that.
  • If you can see the floor from the basement glue a 2x2 to stiffen that area if possible.

What is the metal floor register?

Probably the vent heat comes out of when the furnace is on....

Does the screw go into the joist?

    This is correct.
