We are looking for an off the beaten path scenic route from the Ocala FL area to Ft McCoy Wisconsin area (Milwaukee) . We do not want to go through the big cities. We have no time restraint. Any ideas...

It is a long way from Milwaukee to Ft. McCoy. I do like taking US 98 and US49 thru Mississippi. You angle from the SE to NW. Mostly rural with small towns. You will probably want to take I 20 for a few miles at Jackson then back on 49. Then follow the river north.
