Ford F350 5th wheel hitch

Here's what Andresen Hitches is offering for supplemental warranty to their Ultimate 5th Wheel Connection:

"If a consumer or Dealer is denied warranty coverage by an RV manufacturer, Trailer Frame manufacturer or King Pin manufacturer, because of failure or damage alleged to have been caused by use of the Andersen Ultimate 5th Wheel Connection (gooseneck or rail mount), and it is proven that the damage/failure was caused by use of the Andersen Ultimate 5th Wheel Connection, then Andersen Manufacturing (d.b.a. Andersen Hitches) will cover said failure or damage up to $5,000,000 (five million dollars) and pay the End User an additional $500 (five hundred dollars) for inconvenience."

They provided this in a written document for me.

Handle on the B&W is at the same level as the plate (forget what it's called) that the kingpin goes into. It is horizontal.

Buy what ever hitch you like......

4 way pivoting head and rated higher than what the gross weight rating of trailer.

Your 11,000# DRY trailer probably has a GVWR of 14,000# so get at least 16,000# rated hitch. Because you will only tow that trailer DRY once....bringing it home from dealer.

My vote is for the Pullrite. Mine does not slide and has served me well since 1996. Maintenace of 1 minor part that was furnished free.

Another vote for the B&W OEM Companion. Great hitch. Also had a good experience buying from tweetys.com

Compare them side by side. The B&W is a very solid unit. The latching jaws are 1" thick. There is no question you are hitched with a B&W.

As earlier said they are 100% USA Made. Very few hitches are these days.

tweetys.com is a good place to buy B&W.

...another B&W vote...great hitch by a USA Company, built in the USA with outstanding customer service...and if you read the reviews here and elsewhere, they do not "chuck"...

I have read a few posts here on the Anderson and looked at the product...it looks good as well...but as to them warranting Lippert issue...I would want to see that put in writing...not bashing...just saying

I too have an F350 with the 5th Wheel/Gooseneck prep. Ford partnered with Reese for the prep hardware. We also just acquired a new 2015 Pinnacle 38FLFS which is a bit heavier than yours dry, but understand your concern. I almost settled on Reese's slider ($2,100) that drops into my prep since I have a short bed.

I didn't want to lug a 150lb+ system in and out of my truck and I'm not a fan of the bucking and chucking a typical 5th wheel hitch offers.

After discussing the solution with my dealer, without knowing it I found it is his preferred solution as well and he has been using it for quite some time with his RAM pickup. I also know the Ford Louisville Plant Vehicle Engineers and shared this with them. They see no issues with the Andersen solution from the tow vehicle side.

You'll find the Andersen Ultimate 5th Wheel Connection is rated to handle more weight than a typical 5th wheel hitch, is lighter in weight (75lbs), is 25% the cost, and doesn't have all the chucking and bucking you get with a typical hitch. :)

Be mindful that if you choose not to use a typical 5th Wheel hitch, Lippert who manufactures the bulk of the 5th wheel frames for the industry, may not honor their warranty. I've been told by my dealer that Andersen has prepared for this and will honor any warrantied damage that Lippert will not.
