This may or may not help. I ordered a Silverado 3500 in mid-February and was told at that time that there was a restriction on production due to the lp5 diesel engine. My dealer gave me an estimated lead time of 10-12 weeks (no promises).
As expensive as these trucks are, you hate to “settle” for one that isn’t exactly what you are looking for. Before I decided on ordering, I had looked all over the country. My dealer also did a nationwide search without any luck. So except for the dealer screw-up, I can relate.
I’m not terribly brand loyal and in my opinion, Ford makes a great truck. Chevy does as well. The main reason I decided to go with the Chevy was that I felt the seats were more comfortable.
My advice to the OP would be to go out and drive both trucks. Find another dealer if need be, but don’t settle!
