Fuel tax

I refueled at several truck stops when driving through Indiana and never saw any 'Extra' taxes on my fuel slip. I don't have a DOT number anywhere on the vehicle. Is that the difference?

I have gone through that state a couple of times. When I have stopped at a truck stop I got nailed with the added tax. When I just stopped at a regular gas station that has diesel the extra tax wasn't added to the bill.
Next time passing through Indiana I will fill before that state and after. Even thinking about an aux tank.

DOT numbers are free, but you have to register trucks & Company information. So if they wanted to come after me they could by way of Company DOT.
No they fuel tax would not have amounted to over $100.00 as I only bought maybe 60 gallons at about .35 cents a gallon.
What happens in this State is you pull into the pump area with all trucks because you can't get at the diesel at the auto pumps.
I did send email to State DMV so I will keep you all posted if I hear anything.

She is suppose to put your DOT number on the invoice. It sounds like she just don't know how to do her job. If he is licensed under 38000# then he don't report his fuel.

I am pretty sure there was no form when I did it a few years back... the attendant just hand wrote the number on the slip...It's like the Military - Don't ask...Don't tell....<< Only because of the small dollar amount.. in the BIG picture of things..

Gov't's closed. Don't worry about it. :-) Seriously, how would they find out? I don't know, unless you told them...OR, was a form filled out by the station exempting you?

I don't believe you have to report anything less than $100.00. Wonder if his tax saving is over $100.00

I use to use a keylock system and fueled once when down in Oregon and got pump or setup without tax. Never heard anything about it.
