I am doing things a bit differently.
I fuel up at the end of the day after I set up in the campground. I usually want to grab something to eat, grocery store, etc, so I just get fuel while on that trip. Fuel is normally cheaper, the area around the islands is cleaner, the islands take the credit card so I don't have to make 2 trips inside; Easy-schmeezy.
I realize this assumes there is fuel near where the cg is located.
I also have an additional 40 gallon tank in the bed of my truck for those times there is no station close by - in that case I just get fuel the next day.
2 new best friends for you - The gas buddy app (free), and 'The Next Exit' (hardcover or online). I carry the hardcover version in my cab. This book shows what's located at every exit of every interstate highway in every state. Food, lodging, gas stations, etc. Their website shows an example page. Plan your McDonalds stops for the entire trip.

I might add for smart phone users, try the Interstate Exits Guide app. It is free at the app store and has all the info for each exit. Works for me.
