furnace

do you have to hi-point after replacing blower wheel in furnace model hydro flame 8500 series hi-pot or hi-point ???
  • No the instructions are to NOT hi-pot test UNLESS circuit board has been disconnected. Hi-pot test (high potential test) checks the integrity of the insulating properties of a component. Done by applying high voltage between a current carrying component and the shield measuring excessive leakage current

You only need to hi-pot test if you are looking for a circuit problem on the board. A circuit board tester is used.

Unplugging the connectors to clean the contacts, change out a board etc. does not require the test.
  • thanks old biscuit...iinstallations said if i disconnected circut board i had to hi-pot
  • What do YOU mean by hi-point?

If you are asking about checking run-out/out of round then NO.
If you purchased the correct replacement blower wheel for your model just slide in on shaft and tighten securely. Check motor clamp is tight.
Rotate wheel and check that is spins free.

Not a critical tight clearance machined component. :B
