Garage storage/organization for travel

I'm curious how people utilize packing in their garage when they go on trips. We obviously have a lot of space back there but I'd like to see ideas of how people pack to keep things from moving/shifting around during travel.

I was thinking of installing tracks on the walls to be able to wrap straps around anything we have back there to hold it from moving around.

This is for odd size stuff like coleman stoves, bicycles and anything else that isn't in a box or crate that you just put put in the corner.

On buggy trips I have my RZR 900 4 back there so there isn't a lot of room for anything else and I throw things in the RZR. On family trips we have a golf cart so we have a lot of extra space to pack things back there for the trip.
  • I actually use a cloth car-top carrier back there tied to the tie downs. I don't have a separate garage in my toy hauler, but still have issues with things sliding around. It holds several cases of beverages securely.
  • I mounted E-track to the walls but putting a 1.5" screw in each stud.

I also bought two very lightweight plastic four drawer units at Walmart. They measure about 3' H and 3' W. I added wheels under the drawer units and strap them to the wall when traveling.
  • My garage has metal "diamond plate" around the bottom of the perimeter. I screwed the "E" track to it along the top edge. I was able to hit several studs so I am confident they will hold for my purposes. I would NOT use it for tie downs of anything big and heavy like a motorcycle or side by side but light stuff holding in place, no worries.
  • I was hoping someone had done this so I could pick their brain :) did you just screw to the wall or did you find the studs to support the track? I don't know what is behind the walls and even for the TV mount that had a sticker to show where to mount it in the garage, it didn't feel all that solid to run the screws in.
  • I put "E" track along both side walls about 14" up for strapping chairs, tables, etc. even with the RZR in there. Works great.
