Giving up gas/diesel credit cards

Not around here anymore.
Just off a 4400 mile trip across OK through TX/NM/CA/NV UT/CO/WY and KS. Never saw discount for cash like we used to see.

My advise is keep your gas cards as I've seen a few places that didn't accept a any type bank CC and cash only for fuel purchase or they wouldn't take a certain CC.

We don't carry much cash and use our CC and gas cards but pay them off at the end of the month.

I haven;t had a problem like this since someone hacked into my vonage account.. (4 yrs ago). (change your passwords at LEAST every other month).

Perps place skimmer in pump without operator's knowledge.
Interior of pumps are easily accessed - key is like a 720 compartment key for RVs - one key opens 'em all.

Everything seems OK, even for the station operator - but your info is being skimmed.

Perps return at some point, retrieve info - clone card, purchase hundreds of gallons of gas with your card.....or sell your card info to other bad guys.
Big time business - even the Secret Service is involved & would only admit to a "draw" with the crooks.

Bottom line for the consumer using credit cards for fuel:
1. Check your monthly statements carefully!
2. Charge your fuel *inside* rather than at the pump.

Are you sure that is still in effect. I used to have one of those, but the system changed for us and I think it is not a platinum premium program or something like that.

Anyhow I wondered what happened to the up frot discount and called them and sure enough they bank the points and you have to request they be cashed in and it is sent to you in the form of visa with the money on it.

Yesterday they said, wow congratulations you have 8012 points. :h

I use my Cabela's card for everything and get anywhere from 1-5% depending on what it is used for. There is no fee and the reward points have been good.
