Hello everyone, Just got back from Mammoth. We stayed at Sherwin Creek just south of town. We didnt want to take a chance on Glass Creek fearing it would be full, and it was. Sherwin Creek takes reservations. You can access all the same riding as Glass Creek. You can pick up a map of all the off road trails at any of the information centers. We did the June Lake loop, Mammoth loop, Hartley loop, Lookout loop, visited the fish Hatchery and the Hot springs. The best ride was Laurel lakes. Over 11,000 feet. Nothing but granite, pine trees and a dark blue Alpine lake. On this ride we climbed over 3,000' in a little more than four miles and scenery on the way up is awesome!
Sherwin Creek has nice spots with BBQ, table, food locker and fire pit. There are fairly new rest rooms (no water). There is several fresh water bibs around the loops. The downside of this place is it is not free (22 bucks per night)and there are very few spots for BIG Haulers. If you are around 32' or smaller no problem. Mine is 40 and it took me a while to get into my spot.
Overall a great trip. Awesome riding (except for one down day for repairs:M) and a beautiful campground to relax in. We are going back next year for sure.
