Good or Not so Good?

I am looking at purchasing a 2014 Crusader Model 295RST. Please give me your input on quality... price, etc.

Where can I find some info on pricing? Can't find it in NADA or Edmunds.

Thanks... you guys are very helpful!

  • there's no such thing as a perfect rv, period. But PT makes an outstanding product for the money. You can go high end & pay a high end price. PT customer service is top notch. I had an incident with one of my bunks that was stowed in the up position during travel (never do that again!)the bunk latch on one end worked it's way loose and the bouncing slowly moved the bunk down gouging the wall on the way down. I wrote PT asking to buy a section of my wallpaper so I could do my own repair....they sent me plenty at no charge!
We are very happy with our unit and it tows extremely well.
  • There are well known issues with wearing of fabric on the bottom of the slides. Prime Time has yet to come up with a solution other than put a tape similar to the existing bottom cover but the tape bunches up. Go to the Prime Time forum and look at the post by Platokidd and is titled "Slide out/underside wearing" which began in August. Many of those with issues now have their rig in storage for the winter and when it comes time to use again, the warranty will be out. Prime Time has remained pretty silent about any issues and those people are anxious on whether they will be covered by warranty.

I have a Crusader 330MKS and it has been without issue since I bought it in July of last year and about 40 nights and 6,000 miles but I see a small amount of wear on the fabric at the bottom of my slides. IMO, using fabric is a dumb move.

  • We have a 2014 295 rst champagne touring edition and enjoy it very much. For me the feature set was more than I thought was possible for the weight and price. It tows VERY well. We have had a few warranty issues but nothing major and our dealer and prime time have been great. The floor plan is excellent. Prime time seems to be a very customer service oriented company. The president is regularly on the forest river owners forum answering questions and whenever I've called with warranty questions they call right back. Good folks. Also 12g off msrp is pretty accurate.
  • EXAMPLES-Nelson's RV in Boise shows MSRP: 2014 $54,582: Sale Price: $40,988: Savings: $13,594.
    2013 Prime Time Crusader 295RST $36,500.00 Texas
  • Try a search on rvtrader.com. At least you can get an idea of what dealers are pricing at. Remember MSRP means nothing.
  • We had a Lacrosse Travel Trailer for 3 years, aside from the normal immediate warranty issues that we found on the PDI we had no other issues with the trailer. WE just purchased a Crusader 334ckt and have used it once since delivery and now it is returned to the dealer for the initial warranty issues ( recliner that won't recline, broken dining room chair, clearance lights that wont light)and winterizing. We are very happy with our choice. We were planning on moving to a fifth wheel in the next few years, but when we saw the Crusader at the trailer show we decided to trade in early. We got a great price and many extras (touring edition, auto leveling, champagne color, Lane furniture). We feel comfortable with the reliability of the Prime Time product. We were very happy with our first Prime Time and are very comfortable purchasing another.
