Goodyear G114 Tires

We have these tires, Load Range H 17.5". Goodyear recommends 125 psi, max cold. Going down the road, TPMS showing 149 psi at 106*. Does anyone know the psi where we should become concerned about tire failure. We talked to Goodyear and the representative said if the tire was inflated to its maximum psi of 125, cold, and carrying the maximum load it is rated for, then you should not have to be concerned because the expansion is engineered into the tire. This seems to contradict the need for aTPMS, but since we have one we are trying to figure out where to set the upper psi limit. Does anyone have any verified information different from this. Thanks so much for your help.

  • I personally am so confident in my GY "H" tires I won'r waste my money on a monitoring system. The two GY "H" issues I have heard about both had center tread loss with NO pressure loss.
  • Set upper high pressure alarm for 150 psi

No need for concern with the increased pressure from COLD stationary to HOT rolling down the HWY

What is concerning is when ONE tire goes higher/hotter then the others.

Tires on same side of 5vr should be close in pressure/tamps
Tires on sunny side can run higher/hotter then those in shady side
  • If you are using TST 507 they recommend 20 psi above your cold pressure setting and 10 psi below your cold psi setting. If the answer you received from Goodyear is not satisfactory perhaps you can contact the TPMS manufacturer for guidance.
