Goodyear Marathon tires

If they are USA made they are good, but if they are made in China replace them.

I'll admit that I'm somewhat biased, and will only buy tires made in the U.S. or Canada. Just be aware that tires can be made in different parts of the world depending on size, and not just on a specific brand model.

Check the date codes on them- google for info on how to do this. If date codes are fairly fresh, I would have them balanced and axle alignment checked and then drive confidently within the recommended speeds for those tires.

Yep, you will hear all kinds of anecdotal horror stories. The Goodyear Marathons are good tires and safe. Just remember that 1, they are limited to 65MPH, 2. Stay within the load rating of the tires, 3. check and maintain the air pressure at the correct setting (usually 80PSI).

Run faster than 65MPH, overload you trailer or have the air pressure to low or too high and you will have problems.

I don't think there's any reason to run out and change them. Keep the pressure where it should be, don't overload them, cover them when parked for longerperiods, try not to hit curbs, etc. They may last for a reasonable amount of time. Lots of folks run them without any problems. My $.02; ymmv.

Go on the Montana's Owners Club MOC forum and join. Then do a search for Marathon tires. Most Montana's are just too heavy for Marathons, and no, I don't care what they put on the sidewalls as their gross weight rating. Change those tires to LT tires if you have 6000 lb axles or Goodyear 614 if you got 7000 lb ones. I drove my Montana straight home and then to Discount Tire the next day for some BF Goodrich tires. It's not so much the Marathons as it is all ST tires. Once you get a up to 10k plus lbs then you need something other then an ST tire.....Some here will balk at that but if you do a search you will find many photos of what can happen to the side of your trailer when one blows.....Oh yeah if you just tow to the lake and back a couple of weekends a year they may be fine but if you're like mine and go out and do 5-600 miles a day at 65-70 mph then I would not trust an ST tire......

I have no recommendations...but i have 16,000 miles on our 2008, original marathons. I do have pressure monitors that tell me pressures and temp which make me feel safer. I am not suggesting anything, just sharing my history.

I have had them - no issues - check inflation (cold) prior to each trip and adjust as needed. I set them at max pressure - 80 psi. The only time I have had problems with tire wearing was when I had axle issues. I have "china" tires on our present unit and have about 8000 miles on them - no problems yet.

I've used them (several sets) and will not use them again nor would I recommend them to anyone that pulls their trailer on the road.
Goodyear finally told me they could no longer honor the Marathons replacement warranty but did set me up in their Wrangler LT tires on all of my GN/pintle trailers. Tire usage and down time on the side of the road dropped by 90 percent.

IMO the Marathons "may" make good fish shelters or a tire on a trailer that doesn't see much road time at interstate speeds such a lawn service trailer that its life is spent running around town or a utility trailer that sits 90 percent of the time and trips less than 50 miles/etc.

I would upgrade to a LT tire if possible especially if your on the road a lot. However which size and load range depends on your trailers axle ratings and what size your current OEM tires and wheels are.
