- LantleyNomadAs I mentioned earlier in this thread many do not know what a rear cap is.It's easy to do without it if you never seen it or notice it.
While I do like a rear cap. I don't see it as a deal breaker.
How important can it be if you never noticed the difference?
First picture is of a rear cap. Notice there is depth to the rear it is not a flat panel but a actual cap that goes on the rear of the RV similar to a front cap. The depth can be really seen at the corners.
Rear cap 1st photo vs. 2nd photo where rear is basically a flat panel no capModerator edit to re-size picture to forum recommended limit of 640px maximum width.
- alboyExplorerWe looked at a new GDS in palm springs a month ago,i feel the gel coat finish has gone down in Quality from a few years back. The Montana Legacy there had better exterior finish in my opinion.
- tcamperExplorerI must admit I am totally confused about this lack of a rear cap as well. The GD products have a nice clean seamless rear end and as far as I’m concerned they look as good as any 5er that I have seen.
I just don’t get it.
I am so impressed with Grand Design, I recently ordered a 2016 Solitude and should receive in March - pipers_familyExplorerWe love our Little Mo, Grand Design 350 Momentum- no problems, 15,000 miles and 13 months later.
- topjimmyExplorerTo answer his Question about the Montana with NO rear cap that is the Standard Montana which used to be called the Moutaineer or the more mid level High Country model, The Montana with the LEGACY pkg which competes with the GD Solitude has the rear cap and Mor-Ryde 4100 Susp, ,hardwood cherry cabinets,IN-Command Control system,day/night shades, Sony home theater surround blu-ray dvd and TV and IMO the rear cap is just for looks and gives the 5er A more upscale look ,Montana's High Country 5er is in the same price level and features as The GD Refection and has no rear Cap just like the Reflection

Did they drop the price too?
Chris, I may not be to observant, but I have walked around our campsite, and have seen at least a dozen 5th wheels, all different makes and models. I fail to see a significant difference in their rear ends. If you can post a picture of your 5th wheel, and point out why you think an end cap is more desierable it would be really appreciated! On every post regarding Grand Design you evidently think everything but the rear cap is perfect, but would not consider a Grand Design because of the rear cap. Just wondering what is so special about a rear cap! - Me_AgainExplorer III
