- JustaguyExplorerThe new Montana has no rear cap. More of a trend to drop the rear cap i believe.

I agree a unit the caliber of GD should have a rear cap. While it's not a deal breaker I see it as a poor design issue.
Interestingly I don't think many buyers even know what a rear cap is:h
While I agree that rear caps look "high end," do they serve a real purpose other than adding weight? I've seen several instances of rear caps leaking causing damage - even separating completely.

Maybe all rear caps are not alike but my rear cap is more or less seamless. I'm sure there is a seam there somewhere but it is not obvious vs. Grand design where there is an obvious seam. I prefer the clean lines of the rear cap. GD has a nice clean sleek look until you get to the rear cap.
For the most part the cap is aesthetic. Non cap models are not prone to leaking so in the end it really should not matter. - Me_AgainExplorer IIIIf they are curved in, they reduce drag a bit. Plus one does not have to always walk around the front of their trailer because they can not stand the cut off appearance of the rear. Chris

- minnowExplorerFor the 2016's, Grand Design has replaced the KantLeak valve with the Nautilus P1. one big headache now in the rear view mirror.

- lazydaysExplorerGD does have very good customer service. Camping buddies of ours have a Reflection and GD has taken it back to the factory for the second time to fix a bed slide leak. First time they paid them to deliver the unit and put the up in a Hotel. This time they came and got it.

Our problems have been mostly associated with components, Attwood, Lippert etc but so far all have been resolved satisfactorily with GD being involved in the resolution of all of them. I don't know whether GD products are more or less troublesome than any others but I will say their customer service has been first class. In our experience, they get involved and follow things up to make sure problems have been dealt with.
Times 100! Grand Design is THE BEST at customer service! We own a Solitude, and as stated a few component issues, a quick call to GD is all it took! They will walk you thru a work around, find a GD dealer near you, or arrange to get it fixed! I am sure even the priciest of the 5th wheel manufacturers have issues, but how do they respond to those issues? GD stands behind their products and are 100% committed to Customer Satisfaction!
