The OP mentioned a DVD player - which was most likely a Furrion unit as that's what has been used in most of the Grand Design units, although I believe they have also used Jensen and perhaps others.
Some other posters mentioned other components. Generically speaking, there are a limited number of component suppliers for RV manufacturers to use - audio, video, frame, axles, brakes, etc. When you get into 12VDC audio/video products designed to be used in an RV to supply an external video display, the selection is very limited. When one of them has QC issues, there aren't a lot of alternatives to switch to, and all of them have issues from time to time. It's a******shoot in many cases.
I was going by, and commented on OP's post...a lot of these A/V systems also work off AC, which is the best route to go....It's the manufacturers option, (not just GD), to opt to purchase the cheaper televisions, DVD players, A/V receivers, speakers, etc, over "better" A/V equipment. QC with these lower end brand A/V components, (which OP was talking about and I addressed))
Agree a lot of alternatives to switch to, that's why I've; since 03', opted out of paying for the some cheap A/V components that came in 5er's I purchased., Dealership agreed and I even pulled all the components myself, and spent my own money on something that will last and is far superior in Quality. It's amazing what you can get done when closing a deal, money talks:)
It's the Furrion, Jensen, and other lower end brand names that doesn't have very good QC because they opt to manufacture as cheaply as possible and the consumer usually get's burnt, either by paying an ungodly amount for the A/V/ Television systems and then some more to replace when they finally fail.
