HappiJac problem

My rear bunks are on a Happi Jac system. Just recently they will now go down without problems but will not raise. Doesn't matter if I'm plugged in or not. Any ideas of what might be the problem?

  • My beds are UP and won't come down. Called Happijac and they asked me to remove the upper limit swutch cover and so some testing and wire jumping. Have not had time, but looks very difficult to even see the switch. Thank goodness for warranty:)))

    OK thanks.

Yesterday I tried raising the beds again and found that if I help the beds get started while the wife holds the switch they start moving again. Im hoping I can get this figured out soon before our next trip.......

Be prepared for the motor to be headed/gone south. The motors on these Happijacs seem to sized to just barely get the job done. If we leave blankets and pillows on the two bunks the system starts to bog down when it gets to the 2nd bunk.
This is what I'm hoping is not the issue, not really wanting to spend $300+ to replace......

Sounds like something is binding up. Is yours the double bed system? If so try moving the top bunk up with the bottom one all the way down. It will take two of you but that might show you where its binding, may take some adjusting. Also note that there are pins and bolt where the bed attaches to the brackets that are intentionally loose or slotted; that is to allow the bed to float some as it travels up/down as the walls are not square and move around quite a bit.

What did you do to fix the issue?

If I remember correctly the little limit switch came loose and just needed adjusting. It was about two years ago.

I had the same problem. I fiddled around with the wiring at the motor and it started to work. Probably something came loose when traveling (I haven't done any additional troubleshooting, yet). Hope yours is as simple.
I pulled the cover on the motor and the wiring looks good, where whas your problem?
