HDT and campgrounds

I'm looking at buying a HDT to pull a 5er, just wondering how accessible or practical are most campgrounds/parks with these trucks.
Thanks

  • OP , just noticed your in Florida. if my memory is correct (and by all means I could be wrong) Florida is one of the 'difficult' states to do this in.
Register and plate as a private vehicle that is.
  • I just got our HDT and it's still a twin screw, so far no issue even when a couple of campgrounds looked tight I was still able to manage fine, actually even better then I expected.
  • Escapees HDT Forum you do not need to be a member to participate.

I have had RV Park people tell me I cannot get into a space, have proved them wrong every time so far. On occasion there is not enough room to park the truck in our site, but that has only happened a couple of times in 10 years and 100k miles in the Volvo.

  • we all fit here

As already stated The HDT section on escapees has a lot of info and a campground resource guide.
I have got into all the parks I ever did with my pick up.
  • Trucks like the Volvo 610/670 turn sharper than pickup trucks. Chris
  • Escapees forum has a good HDT section. Not much of that going on here.

As the proud owner of an MDT, I can say that most commercial places are ok. Older, smaller campgrounds, not so much.
