Why is it when anyone asks about Heartland products, everyone who NEVER owned one tells them to look elsewhere...usually their brand. Guess us Heartland owners, who really know what they are like, should start putting our 2 cents in on CC, Redwood, etc. threads...geez!! Give it a break!!
By all means have at it!! If you had a friend or neighbour who got royally screwed by any of the other manufacturers speak out! The reason I bought my Cedar Creek was because of the good counsel and advise I got from this forum! No I've never owned a hartland product but I've seen and been in a lot of them and even came close to pulling the pin on one of those front livingroom montanas when they first came out but the quality and fit n' finish wasn't there. My response to the op was of two separate owners I know and their bad experiences that they had with their bighorns, in the end they (the manufacturers) aren't giving these rigs away and after-the-sale support by them is very important as I personally have come to learn.
I would have liked to a fly on the wall of the visits and repair of you neighbors units. Particularly the problems and presentation to dealer and factory.
I have recently bought a Big Country and although we have had little time for using it due to the weather, most everything sans a few minor glitches have worked fine. Great insulation too by the way.
My parents have a 2012 Sundance and even after being out of warranty for a month or two when we noticed some delimitation and pictures sent they wanted it back at the factory for repairs this winter. Just called on the second of January and all is done. Looked over some minor stuff that was also out of warranty and repaired. Instead of repairing the slide skin that was damaged, they resided the ENTIRE TRAILER! Caulked and sealed the entire trailer. Repaired a fresh water line that wouldn't allow filling of the fresh water tank.
Remember, this isn't a high dollar rig and we aren't winey people. In no way were my parents looking for this much extra effort but Heartland is putting it forth all out of the warranty period.
No threats for lawyering up or suing. No elevated tempers. No asking for more than just have a look and see what should be done. Was mentioned several times that if fees were incurred then let us know and a decision will be made. No fees were brought up and none will be associated with repairs. Awesome!
This is no special story, I have heard similar cases from others too. Glad I stopped at a Heartland rally before I bought mine and asked questions. That sealed the deal.
Good luck.
