Heartland vs. Keystone 5th wheels

I HAD A NEW SUNDANCE and a used Everest they are both pretty much the same quality. One was a mid profile and the Everest was a regular profile.I had issues with both.

This is my 2nd Cougar & neither has had any issues. They have less bells & whistles than the Montana but I would buy another. My brother purchased a Montana in 2004 & has had one warranty issue. The frig was replaced via extended warranty about 3 yrs ago. They have snowbirded 5 to 6 months every year in FLa. If he bought a new 5er, he would get another Montana. I have looked at Heartland but can't truly speak about their quality. I suspect most of us would recommend what we have if it has been trouble free. Rv's are like autos. They are made every Monday morning & Friday afternoon; & some of those workers want to be somewhere else. You can just hope you don't get the lemon. I don't think you will go wrong with either choice. Just pick the plan & features that best meets your needs. Good luck.

Traded the cougar this fall for a Big Country. Only had the Cougar for a year and seemed like something always needed attention. Thirty six foot trailer and had less carrying capacity than my fathers Sundance that was shorter. Cougar had lighter axles and floors seemed thin.
Big Country has thick floor insulation all around and good quality construction. Lots of lights too.

Talked to a Big Horn owner at a rally and after a short story about a factory rep and a problem they thought was happening to their roof, Heartland replaced the entire roof with an updated newer style and did it for free out of warranty.
Actually my parents Sundance is at the factory for side wall replacement due to some delamenation around the fridge vents. Was just out of warranty but they said no problem. Even told my mother to make a list of other things she thought they should look at and they would address those when they had it in for repair. I doubt very few companies can top that for customer service.

They are both owned by the same Corporate holding company, Thor that's all...If you think they are sister companies, think again. They are extremely competitive with each other and both companies are operated separately. Either one would be happy to put the other out of business...

Had two Bighorns before our present trailer. Looked at at least 5 times more Montana's before I made the decision to go with Heartland.

I've got a 2008 Bighorn 3670RL and no problems at all. Customer service seems just as good if not better after the warranty has expired.

We had 4 Keystone RV's including Sprinter,Cougar, and Montana. The last 2 have been Heartland Big Horns and the quality of the Big Horn is so much better than the Keystone products. I know Thor owns both companies but I will never go back to another Keystone product.

Go with the HEARTLAND. I cant vouch for the Cougar but have heard some of the same complaints over time. I will vouch for the heartland and I own one and have found them to be as good as any other RV given that most use the same materials for the interiors but the heartland has the better Customer service. As learned by reading these forums. I bought my heartland before I found the forum. They are a stand up company and care about what they sell it seems.

I have a 2014 Heartland Bighorn 3010RE. Part of the reason I bought a Bighorn was the reputation of the factory in support after the sale. Also the fact that it is rated for full time use. I'm not naive. What does that mean ? I HOPE it means that I get better, stronger construction and more insulation.
